Thank you to the voters of Ward 3 who voted for me. I think I made a good run for Pullman City Council. I congratulate Jeff Hawbaker for his victory. He ran a good clean race and prevailed in a close contest. I have no doubt he will serve our city well. We face serious financial challenges for the next several years. Wise and frugal use of limited resources will need to be the watchword well into the next decade or more.
For all those who have an interest in the betterment of Pullman, I say come on in, the water is fine. The Council will be resuming the annual goal setting process in January. The College Hill Core Plan has been adopted; there is a great deal of work ahead to implement it. The Comprehensive Plan is due for a revisit and I hope we will give each hill the kind of serious attention we have given College Hill. Believe it or not, my experience is that the Council welcomes and listens to public comment. If you don’t participate, you have no standing to complain.
I will return to observing the Council and city in action, expressing my concerns and opinions when appropriate. I look forward to returning to more active service on the Board of the Friends of Gladish, and there may be other opportunities for me to serve this community that has given me so much in the past.
